Go to the Beach

Siesta Key beaches are typically the first stop for visitors – and with good reason. The island has three main beaches: all beautiful, and each a little different.

If you’re the type of couple that likes to get lost in a hum of activity, head to Siesta Beach, the key’s most popular public beach park. Free parking is available, as well as restrooms and picnic pavilions.

Both smaller and less crowded than Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach covers the midsection of the barrier island. Warm, calm waters make Crescent a great place for paddle sports and swimming.

If you’re looking for a romantic afternoon of peace and quiet, Turtle Beach is your best bet. Located at the south end of Siesta Key, this beach rarely gets busy.

The sand is coarser and darker, and the sandbar drops off quickly, but it’s a great place for shelling, snorkeling, and spotting wildlife.

Embark on an Adventure

Siesta Key has no shortage of outdoor activities – both in the water and on land.

The adventurous couple will love kayaking on the gulf waters while dolphins play, or kayaking along Blind Pass in search of manatees. Check out Siesta Paddlesports (8000 Blind Pass Rd.) for rentals and tours.

If you’re keen to stay on the water, pick up some snorkel gear in town, and head to Point of Rocks at the end of Crescent Beach for some of the best snorkeling in the area.

For a special Valentine’s Day date, hire a private boat tour with Kokomo Charters (8918 Midnight Pass Rd.). This boat charter will take you tubing, wildlife viewing, or on a trip to magical Sand Dollar Island. For a bit of added romance, book a tour at sunset.

For pairs who prefer to adventure on land, Siesta Key is a great place to ride a bike. Hop on and cycle around the island, while checking off other activities on this list.

Shop in Siesta Key Village

Siesta Key is a great place to get the latest beach and surf wear. Forgot your flips flops? Ran out of sunscreen? Desperately need a new bikini? Shops in the Village have got you covered.

For all your souvenirs and apparel, check out Siesta Key Outfitters (5121 Ocean Blvd.) and Beach Bazaar (5211 Ocean Blvd.). They sell everything from T-shirts to board shorts to bathing suits, as well as beach toys and snorkels.

For ocean-inspired art, home décor, and gifts head to local co-operative The Gallery (5129 Ocean Blvd.). This is a great place to buy something for friends and family back home or pick up a last-minute Valentine’s gift for your sweetheart. The gifts are peculiar and hand-crafted.

Eat at a Top Romantic Restaurant

Cooking in your own kitchen at a Siesta Key vacation rental is a luxury many vacationers appreciate, but may grow tired of day after day. Valentine’s Day is a day to leave the spatula behind and head to town for a bite to eat.

Siesta Key is full of romantic restaurants with staggering water views. For casual fine dining, check out Ophelia’s on the Bay (9105 Midnight Pass Rd.). The team serves traditional coastal fare, with a focus on local fish and seafood.

For tropical Asian fusion, check out The Cottage (153 Avenida Messina), which serves a mix of eclectic Asian, South American, and American dishes.

For something a little more casual, go for oysters and a cold pint on Siesta Key Oyster Bar’s (5238 Ocean Blvd.) large patio or enjoy an extended happy hour at Daiquiri Deck (5250 Ocean Blvd.). Dozens of other fun eateries are available on the island – plenty to fill your trip with!
