What to Do on Crescent Beach

You don’t have to get out to Bermuda or head deep into the Caribbean to find the quintessential tropical experience. With brilliant white sand, calm waves, and turquoise waters, Siesta Key is featured in many images of the perfect tropical paradise, where it’s summer all year long.

Siesta Key is home to a few distinct beach areas. World famous Siesta Beach is located towards the northern side of the island. You can also head south on the island to Turtle Beach and try to spot the marine life on and off the beach.

But Crescent Beach is the definitive place to be – right in between them. The beach is located just a few miles south of the island’s “main” coastal escape, Siesta Beach.

For beach enthusiasts, Crescent Beach represents the pinnacle of relaxation. Stay at one of our Siesta Key condo rentals right across the street and enjoy an acclaimed coastal experience with a bit more privacy than Siesta Beach. Enjoy amazing snorkeling, shelling and swimming, and some breathtaking views!

What to Do on Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is located at 6490 Midnight Pass Road where you can find a small parking lot but no other facilities.

This beach is famous for its quartz clear sand, similar to its sister beach to the north. It’s fine, soft, and bright white, far different than what many beach-goers may be accustomed to.

It’s perfect for packing and making sandcastles. It won’t clump or stick, loosely falling off your skin so it doesn’t get trailed back to your Siesta Key beach rental.

You make your own fun at Crescent Beach. Build a sandcastle with the kids. Learn to snorkel or simply enjoy the more relaxed and calm vibes of the area.

If you want to go on a mini-adventure, a trip to Point of Rocks on the far southern end of the beach is perfect for you. Grab some snorkeling gear and explore this little, hidden gem on the island, a shallow rock formation that is home to many fish species and aquatic life.

This mini-bay is home to hermit crabs and many interesting species that thrive between the algae-coated rocks and shallow waters. It is a unique spot to see, and snorkeling will get you the best vantage point.

Restaurants

There are several nearby restaurants to keep you satiated that are well within walking distance of the beach (under 1 mile) including:

  • Captain Curt’s Crab & Oyster Bar
  • Orange Octopus Ice Cream Shop
  • Anna’s Deli
  • A Taste of Germany
  • Toasted Mango Café
  • City Pizza

…and many others depending on what you’re craving.

Parking and Location

Guests can park in a designated free parking area at 6490 Midnight Pass Road. It is a short walk from here to Crescent Beach proper. There are no other amenities at Crescent Beach and there are no lifeguards on duty.

You can also rent snorkeling gear, beach chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards, kayaks, paddleboards and other beach equipment from one of the nearby providers.

There are two main ones available. They are Siesta Sports Rentals (6551 Midnight Pass Rd, Sarasota, FL 34242) and Siesta Key Bike and Kayak (1224 Old Stickney Point Rd, Sarasota, FL 34242).
