Siesta Key is located off of Florida’s southwest coast between the Gulf of Mexico and Roberts Bay. It is part of Sarasota County, making it convenient to plan day trips to nearby cities like Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Fort Myers, and more.
What is the closest airport to Siesta Key?
Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport, also known as SRQ, is the closest airport to Siesta Key. It is located about 11 miles from the heart of the city, making for a 25-minute drive. There are rental cars available at the airport if you’d like to drive yourself, or you can call on one of the many other transportation services.
If you are planning to come in from a bigger city to the Siesta Key beachfront vacation rentals, there are a few other airport options within a short distance. St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport is about an hour’s drive away, and Tampa International Airport is just 15 minutes further out. If you’re coming in from the south of Siesta Key, Charlotte County Airport is an hour away, and Southwest Florida International Airport is 1.5 hours away.
How do I get to Siesta Key from the nearest airport?
If you do fly into Sarasota/Bradenton, you can choose from several services to get you to Siesta Key. SuperShuttle is great for larger groups, while Dick’s Driver Service is a more luxury option. Renting a car? Driving into Siesta Key from Sarasota/Bradenton is easy. Make your way to US-301 S, and turn left to reach S Tamiami Trail. Turn onto Siesta Drive, then onto State Highway 758 to reach Siesta Key.
Things to Do in Siesta Key

This area is the perfect combination of fun and relaxation, thanks to the close proximity to great day trips and the small-town feel that hasn’t become overly popular with tourist crowds. While you’re in the area, there are tons of free transportation options if you choose not to rent a car. These operations are cost-free, but they appreciate tips if you are able to do so. Of course, once you reach a central location, it’s easy to walk to many of the sights.
