From beachside stores and farmers markets to art festivals and sandcastle building competitions, Siesta Key is rich in community-driven arts activities and things to do.
The island has become a place of deep inner relaxation and comfort along the beach, as well as a place to explore the artistic side of things. This delicate merging of the artistic with the tropical has become one of Siesta Key’s defining attributes.
It has carved a unique niche in the midst of the renowned art culture of Sarasota. The Siesta Key arts community participates in many artistic endeavors across a wide breadth of independently-focused interests.

Farmers Markets
Farmers markets have been an iconic part of the Siesta Key and Sarasota community for many years. The community props up the ongoing farmers’ markets, and they serve as another place where local artists can be supported.
The Siesta Key Farmers Market is one ideal example of this, and it is held in Siesta Village every Sunday, from 8 am to 1 pm at 5104 Ocean Blvd, Siesta Key, FL.The marketplace features a variety of hand-made local art, such as metal artworks, gemstone jewelry, wall art and more.
Siesta Fiesta
Perhaps the purest representation of the arts culture on Siesta Key is the Siesta Fiesta. Out of all major Sarasota art events, this is one of the largest and longest lasting.
After 40 years, the Siesta Fiesta continues to gain momentum as younger generations support the independently hand-crafted artwork that can be viewed or purchased. There are musical performances, food, raffles with local gifts, and other treats for visitors. The event is always free.
The Siesta Fiesta is a synthesis of sculpting, hand and face painting, photography, ceramics, sculptures, fine art, jewelry crafting, and many other art forms for the spring season. It is an excellent way to become acquainted with the artistic culture of the island, but there are plenty of other opportunities throughout the year.
The 40th annual event will be held Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at 10:00 to 5:00 and Sunday, April 29th, 2018 at 10 am to 5 pm. You’ll find a sea of tents at 5124 Ocean Blvd. in Siesta Key, FL.
Artistic Communities Nearby
There are two long-standing artist communities nearby: Towles Court (Sarasota) and the Village of the Arts (Bradenton). Many of their artist contributors display/sell their artworks on Siesta Key or are island residents.
These small villages consist of bungalows, studios, and galleries for aspiring artists. Siesta Key artists attend events and display their art in these communities on a regular basis, such as during the Third Friday Artwalks at Towles Court.
